Wednesday, Aug. 5: Lake Poway will be closed for boating and fishing for routine algae control at the lake. The treatment to remove algae does not harm fish or wildlife, but it does require a 24-hour closure before lake activities can resume.
The Lake Poway Recreational Area will remain open; access to hiking trails will not be affected. Boating and fishing activities will reopen at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6. Learn more.
Boating Re-Opens June 3
Boating re-opens at Lake Poway on June 3. In compliance with county and state public health orders, boats will be sanitized daily and are only rented once a day. Boats can only be shared by members of a household unit.
There are 40 motor boats and 14 pedal boats available each day. Boats are rented at the Lake Concession. Call for closing time: 858-668-4778.

Motor and Pedal boats carry a maximum of 4 people (including children of any age or weight).
Row boats carry a maximum of 5 people.
