Lake Poway Fish Report & Records

April 2026:

Trout:

The first trout stock of the 25/26 season was on December 5th, 2025. In April we will be stocking the 2nd and the 16th. These two stocks will be our last for trout until the 26/27 season! The bite has been decent so far on mornings on and after a stock, and seems like the fish move deep quickly after, especially with the higher heat we are experiencing. Half-Moon Bay, Hidden Bay, and Jump-Off Point have been productive so far. Mini-Jigs, Power Worms, or Power Bait on a C-rig have been working as always.

Bass:

Bass are actively spawning. Come early in the morning, or try to find a windless day to come get a good look at some good sized ones near structure. Most people have been checking the popular spots via boat. Bass will be catch and release only from April-May for spawning season.

Catfish:

Catfish have been caught from the fishing float, shallows, and off of boats in deep water. Our last stock of Catfish was August 22nd, 2025, but there are still plenty in the water. As the water is warming, the catfish activity will likely get better. Try using some chopped mackerel, shrimp, chicken livers, dough baits, and even Power Bait.
